The kids have all moved out on their own, the house is quiet, and you realize it is time for a change – the time when you can finally choose fine dining furniture. While the kids were still at home, the kitchen and dining room were two very busy places. Typically, your kids had friends over, which meant you had a revolving door. Obviously, the more people came in and out of the house, the harder it was to keep things nice.
Of course, if this sounds familiar, chances are you also agree that you would rather have had the kids feel at home then have your child gone all the time. This means during the years of raising kids, you probably did not buy new furniture, knowing it would likely be damaged, accidentally of course. However, now that the kids have headed off to start their own life, you now begin to focus on you – what do you want?
Many times, parents will start by redoing rooms to include new wall paint, new carpeting, and new furniture. As you stand back and look at the dining room, you realize it is time to purchase fine dining furniture, you know, grown up stuff. With your new fine dining furniture, you can have your friends over to entertain. Whether fixing a six-course gourmet meal or simply sitting around to enjoy a cocktail or coffee after going out, your fine dining furniture should be comfortable and visually pleasing.
Just as with any furniture, you want the best you can afford. With fine dining furniture, you would be looking at the upper end of the scale, trying to find pieces that are made from rich woods, designed with great detailing, and something that looks elegant and sophisticated. A great place to start is with hardwood. For instance, woods such as cherry, mahogany, and walnut are simply beautiful. The wood wears amazingly well while still looking rich.
Remember, along with your new fine dining furniture, you also want to address the rest of the room. In other words, you would not add a gorgeous marble and stone table and chairs to a room with old country blue paint on the walls and pictures of mountains. Instead, you might consider choosing a warm wall color such as cinnamon, chocolate, habanera pepper, or peacock blue. Is it daring? Well if you have not updated your dining room in a long time, it could fee that way. However, when the room is freshly painted and your new, fine dining table and chairs are in place, you will find this to be your favorite room of the house.
