Dining Furniture: Not Just for Dining Rooms

Dining furniture is quickly breaking out of its shell and popping up all over the modern home. Even if your home does not have a separate dining room or formal dining room, you can enjoy tables, chairs, hutches, buffets, servers, china cabinets, tea trays, and anything else traditionally associated with dining rooms in each and every room in your home. If you are looking to outfit your home, do not skip over your local furniture store’s selection of dining furniture.

Dining furniture is probably the most obvious choice for a dining room, dinette, breakfast nook, or eat in area of a kitchen, but it may be less obvious in a bathroom, bedroom, living room, or even a home office. A dining room table is a great surface for a wide variety of spaces in your home and certainly has more life than simply a surface designated for eating. Consider adding a lovely dining room table to your bedroom in a special nook to serve as a spot for display or instead of a writing desk. An especially unique look is to situate a smaller dining room table at the foot of a bed. Keep in mind that dining furniture does not have to be of a huge scale, so that 12 foot dining room table may not fit into your space, but a smaller scale drop leaf table will look like it belongs there!

A unique piece of dining furniture, like a smaller buffet or server can find a new life in your bathroom as a vanity. The trend of using furniture as vanities and either mounting a sink directly to the top of the piece or installing a brand new surface to the top of the piece is becoming more and more popular. Before you decide to use a buffet as as your bathroom vanity, be sure to contact your plumber to see if the piece will properly accommodate all the plumbing pipes. In addition to dining furniture doubling as bathroom vanities, kitchen cabinets, dry sinks, dressers, cabinets, and anything else under the sun can be converted.

Use hutches, china cabinets, and other display oriented pieces of dining furniture to showcase your collections in various rooms of your home. Spotlight a specific collection in the entry way of your home for a dramatic effect or fill your cabinet with cherished photographs and keep in your family room. A blank hallway wall can house a display piece perfectly, and they work well in bedrooms if the piece of dining furniture also has storage capacity for clothing or accessories.

Whatever piece of dining furniture you use in other parts of your home, remember you can create whatever design plan you want. Incorporate dining chairs into a reading corner or small bedroom to create a cozy seating area. Use a server or buffer as a home for your television and associated electronic accessories. The options are endless when it comes to unique and original ways to incorporate dining furniture into different rooms in your home.
