Counter height dining room sets are one of the latest and hottest in dining décor trends. Higher than the standard dining set, counter height dining room sets offer several distinct advantages over traditional dining room arrangements.
The ideal location for counter height dining room sets is in a dining room that is located adjacent to the kitchen, and has not actually been walled off as a separate room. It is within this area that a counter height dining room set will achieve its maximum aesthetic appeal. Such a set will create an impression of continuity in height and therefore flow throughout the dining and preparation area, as the eye will naturally be drawn to the continuous height level represented by the counters, the elements, and finally the table and chairs. Counter height dining room sets allow for more room both between the legs of the diner and the bottom of the table, and between armrests and the bottom of the table. This extra space provides for an extra level of comfort while dining, as well as offering an easier way to adjust a seating position while sitting down at the table. One of the most appealing aspects of counter height dining room sets is the potential for unique and personalized seating design. Often, people opting for a dining room set in this style will also purchase a set of bar stools for their counter tops, which will add to the décor of the kitchen overall as well as supplementing seating arrangements for large groups of people. This can come in especially handy when entertaining families with children, as kids of any age will inevitably get a kick out of dining at the counter on bar stool-style chairs. For all their advantages in uniqueness and original décor, however, there are some drawbacks to these sets. Counter height dining sets are not designed universally- many shorter people have a hard time dining comfortably on a counter height chair. Even chairs which include rails which allow for resting of the foot (as most should), the leg may become cramped after an extended amount of time sitting down. You might find that, despite enjoying the experience of dining on the cool set of stools, children (and especially those in the ages where they can’t yet reach the floor and are too old to tuck their legs underneath them) will also have a hard time sitting at a counter height dining room set. When choosing a design scheme for your open kitchen and dining room, you might want to consider looking at counter height dining room sets. It is important to keep some of the limitations of counter height dining room sets in mind, however, and weigh those against their very high fashion appeal. |
