The chairs can also be a benches on one side, or benches on both sides which would be similar to a cafe atmosphere.

It is lower in price than the formal dining room tables, and most couples begin their lives with a small house or apartment. Also, young couples just beginning their lives usually have children, so the cherry dinette would be very tough and sturdy for them, lasting longer than anything else.
